Soft Robes

The weather lately has been below 0's. And the heat in our apartment has been malfunctioning resulting in a very cold situation for our family. BUT, fortunately for Lizzy and I, we have soft, plushy robes that keep us nice and cozy. Ahhhhhhh...soft!

When I'm Older

Lizzy is so excited about her birthday coming up. She just can't wait to be older...

p.s. the "ouse" on the moon, is actually "mouse", first Mouse on the moon... :)

Cerebral Palsy Class

I took Hayden into the Cerebral Palsy classroom run by Jian Hua. I used to volunteer in this classroom when Lizzy was a toddler, so it was fun to take Hayden now that he is a little older. It was so neat to see their personality differences. Lizzy was always timid, but Hayden just got right in with the crowd. Here they were practicing some fine motor skills by playing a simple computer game. Hayden, of course, is a master at computer games, he plays all the time at home so he's showing them how it's done. Don't be too proud little Hay, you don't have cp!

Favorite position

Guess what they're doing?

Yup, favorite thing - the tube.

Ice

We went with some friends to the famous Tianjin TV tower where the lake has frozen. People can rent ice skates or little sleds with ski poles to propel yourself along the ice. Lizzy and I rented a two seater and had some fun with it. I was VERY concerned about how solid the ice was.

Lizzy had a lot of fun, but after about 20 minutes on the ice she says, "Mommy, my toes hurt." I said, "Honey, are your toes cold?", and she says, "No, they just hurt." I thought that was a good time to go home.

Learning Patterns

Lizzy has been learning in school about patterns, ABAB, or AABB, or AABAAB, you know, math concepts. So she has taken to organizing her entire life to patterns. For example, since she no longer takes daily naps, she's decided that her nap ritual is going to be a pattern. One day nap, then two days no nap, one day nap, and two days no nap. To clarify, it's an ABBABB pattern.

Right now she's snoozing away because the past two days has been no nap days so today she marched herself right into bed for her nap.

Is this normal behavior? :)

NIght, night, Hayden

These pictures were taken a while back when Hayden had been sick the entire month. Here he is, so tired that he fell asleep....standing up! Is that even possible?! It's little Hayden's super power.

No matter how many people advise against it, I love sleeping with my son. Here he is, perfectly content and snuggled up against my duvet. My favorite part of the day is bedtime when I get to join him in sleep heaven!

Almost bedtime

but still raring to go!

I'm sorry about such bad lighting, I realize our house is kept quite dark. But this kind of after the bath footage can only be taken after dark...so sorry.

play

It's hard to get good footage of Hayden because he always wants to see the camera. In this clip, you witness him whining for it with a very fake cry. You proceed to see his little mind at work, thinking "I'm not going to win this battle and I also really want to get back to painting". Also, both him and Lizzy are somewhat OCD about mess, so when they get paint on their fingers, it really is an issue, hence the "uh-oh's". Till this day, Lizzy hates getting mess on her fingers.

me and the kids

I love the post Christmas season calm. Now I feel like I have the breathing space to take silly pictures with my kids.

Trip to Hospital

Last week, Daddy had to get an endoscopy done in the hospital, and Lizzy and Hayden were feeling sick so we all went to the hospital together. Here's Lizzy with Daddy in the recovery room.

While we were waiting in the doctor's room, they watched TV, but it was one of those flat screens where you had to watch from eye level otherwise you can't see the screen, so Hayden sat on the baby weighing thingie, and Lizzy stood on the chairs. It was really an awful time, travelling with two cranky, sick children. One I would not like to repeat for a long, long time.
